Vintage and Older Pieces at Hearth & Acre

Some pieces in our shop are vintage, antique, pre-owned, or vintage-style. We love them for their character, their patina, and the cozy, collected look they bring to a home. We sell these pieces as decorative collectibles for adult display.

Please read this before you buy an older piece from us:

These pieces were not made recently, and we do not know everything about how or where they were made. We have not tested their materials, and in many cases the materials are unknown. Older paint, glazes, metals, glass, solder, and finishes may contain substances that were common in their time, including lead. Because of that, we do not sell these pieces for use with food or drink, for children, or for everyday functional use.

That means please do not use a vintage or older piece from us to serve, store, cook, or eat or drink from, do not give it to a child to play with or use, and do not wear it, unless that specific listing says it has been tested or certified for that use. Please also do not use an older lamp, clock, appliance, or other electrical or mechanical piece as a working item unless that specific listing says it has been tested or certified by a qualified person. If a listing does not say tested or certified, please treat the piece as display only.

We describe each piece honestly from what we can see, and we show its condition in the photos. Older pieces may show wear, patina, scratches, chips, small cracks, fading, age marks, repairs, or loose or missing parts. Please look closely at all photos and read the condition notes before you buy. If a piece's age, maker, origin, or material is not proven, we will say so or describe it as vintage-style, older, or believed to be, rather than as a certain fact.

Before we list a pre-owned piece, we check the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall list at cpsc.gov/recalls. If a piece is recalled, we do not sell it.

If you have a question about a piece — what it is made of, whether it has been tested, or how it can be used — please ask us before you buy. We would rather help you choose a piece that is right for your home than have you guess.
